I am thinking about starting a project writing either
a plug-in (if it suits this kind of thing) or separate
program to convert LightWave scenes to be rendered with
Pixar's RenderMan software. Basically, it would convert LW
scenes and objects to RIB files for importing into RenderMan.
RenderMan, if you don't know, is one of the leading renderers
in the industry. It is used on almost every major motion
picture that includes computer imagery, including the
beautiful textures and dinos in Jurasic Park.
Let me know, if there is a market, there could be a product.
